2021 Purebred Breeder of the Year
The Alberta Hereford Association is proud to recognize Tanga Herefords of Millet, Alberta as the 2021 Purebred Breeder of the Year. Gary Seutter and son Tanner run the operation on a day-to-day basis with input from son Tyler.
Tanga Herefords was started in 2007 with a major purchase of females from the Wabash (Blume) dispersal at Castor. More females were added in the following years from the Hirsche dispersal and from the St Arnaud dispersal. Numerous heifers were also added over the years from JoNomn Hereford Ranch.
Tanga Herefords currently runs 75 purebred cows and 350 commercial cows. Two-year-old bulls have been raised and sold at the Calgary Bull Sale for 7 years and by private treaty. Purebred heifers have sold through the First Choice Female Sale in Camrose and the Seutters sell packages of commercial females every year. Tanga Herefords has also been a long time exhibitor at the Farmfair International Show.
Good, functional, sound cattle are what Tanga Herefords strive to produce, and they look forward to the future of influencing the cattle industry with good Red White Face cattle.
Gary Seutter has been the President of the Northern Alberta Hereford Club for the past six years and a Director of the Alberta Hereford Association. The volunteer hours he commits to the Hereford breed have been truly appreciated.
Gary and Tanner are always quick to lend a hand at any event and the pride they take in their cattle and the Hereford breed is genuinely admirable.
