| Cow Herd At Kallal Hereford Ranch, we breed 225 females each year. Of these, we calve out 180 head with the rest sold as bred heifers or culled out (primarily due to age). | |||

The Ranch is located just east of Tofield, south of Beaverhill Lake and the cows run on native pasture for most of the summer. Thanks to backflood projects with Ducks Unlimited, our winter feed for the herd is mainly wild hay. The cows maintain good condition with this feeding regimen. The breeding program focuses on functional females that have good udders, correct confirmation and lots of pigment. |

Kallal Hereford Ranch has been selling quality Horned Hereford Bulls since the 1940s.

We sell about 50 bulls every year, and we're proud that we have so many repeat customers. That means our bulls are doing their job!
Steve Roth of the IX Ranch in Montana has been
buying Kallal bulls since 1970. After 28 years and 1,200 bulls,
he will be back for more in 2002! We
breed bulls that are clean fronted, and athletic. They must also have the
kind of muscle and performance that translates into more profits when their calves
are sold. Most of our bulls are sold
by private treaty at the Ranch. A few are consigned each year to the Calgary Bull Sale. | |||
